Image Swap

1 min read
over the past few months I have obtained a small bunch of loyal watchers who regularly check my new images , however it is very hard to get new viewers or to determine exactly how good one image is compared to another so I came up with an idea.

If anyone is interested I will pick My favourite  image from there gallery and rather than featuring it in a journal or in a favourites folder I will submit it like a normal photo so  all my Watchers can see it  (with you permission) and post in the comments that it is not my image (with a link to your page.)  in return I ask that you do the same.

This way we both get to show are art to one another's watchers and can hopefully see what other people think of our work.

I only recently came back to this site after a long break and it appears to me that a lot of the groups i used to belong to have died.

So I was wondering if you great people that watch me could point me in the way of some new groups

Thank you very much

My Mum Was Born in Toronto and some of my family still live in Canada.
Now I first visited Canada was I wee kid and even back then I somehow felt that I belonged there.
It's really hard to explain but Canada just instantly held a place in my heart.
The people were so kind to me and Toronto felt like a cleaner less crowded , better built version of London!
Now don't get me wrong London has a lot Toronto does not have I.e. all its history plus the galleries in London are free. So I guess what I am really trying to say is Toronto and London are similar enough that if you know one you can instantly fell at home at the other, yet the cultures of the countries are different enough to make you know your on holiday and to miss little things when you get home.

Now the more observant of you might of noticed that Canada is the first folder in my gallery and there is a simple reason for this, My passion for photography started in Canada!
For personal reasons (I don't fell comfortable listing on here) I had not been able to visit Toronto for a very long time. So when I finally got another chance to go back, I wanted to make sure I somehow captured the magic of Toronto.
I wanted to be able to show all my friends why for the past 10-20 years I have kept going on about how great Canada/ Toronto is and how much I missed it, plus I wanted something to remember it by because I didn't know when I might get to go back again.
So I brought a cheap camera and my new hobby was born.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT

I am not all that good with words, hence why I take photos rather than write, but I would like to say thank you to everyone, who has welcomed me back to Dart , as you cansee from the oginaljournal entrys date I Have been away for quite some time and I was actual quite nervous about returning because I belived my Photos may not be good enought for an art site full of thousands of talented artists.

This is because....

I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER.

When I First started I was affraid to put half my photos up as I felt they simply did not look good enought to be shared with the world and When i eventualy did take what I thought was the Perfect photo I soon learnt that Art was subjective and many other people did not share my view.

Because of this I soon lost my Confidence and Praticualy gave in for years, and I Honstely can not say what promtited me to return but Im gladi did as thefollwin would never have happend ....

People often say you should never meet you idol/ Contact your idol however...

After returning for a short while my photos where very slowly getting a few favourites so at this point In time I  noticed everyone who clicked Favourite, Then one day When I logged in, I happend to notice that sooper-deviant had Favourited one of my images.

Now trying to makea long story short sooper-deviant has been on Dart for years and when I orignaly joined this wasone of the first account i ever followed because it had so many breathtaking  photos and I  longed to onedaytake photos halfas goodasthe ones on that account , so it felt like a huge compliment when  they  favourited one of my works.

So I quickly replied saying thank you  for the fav and said how shocked I was, because many people had put this photo down due to the quality of it (it was taken on a basic compact photo and the colors did not come up perfect) and it was a little crooked) and I recieved A resposne that changed my whole view

"The only thing that matters is what makes you happy...  Keep using that compact camera of yours and capture those little moments!"

And I realised just how true that is Taking photos  is not about getting the perfect shot ,or becoming famous (getting loads offavourites) is is about

1. Getting outside and enjoying the beautiful world we live in.
2. Having fun and experimenting with things
3. Capturing moments in time!
4. Inspiring others to do the same.

So althought I would never consider myself a professional because anyone can take photos like mine, I  decided tocarry on doing What I do because it  'makes me happy' .

A small amount about some of the folders in my Gallery

Toronto

STREET ART IS REAL ART

It greatly annoys me how most so called great pieces of art will never be viewed by the public because some art collector decided rather than helping the poor they will waste hundreds of millions buying art.
Which is exactly why I love Street Art!
It opens the art world up to everyone because the art is there for everyone to see and has no real value.
The artists simply want to show off their skills to the world even though they may never get any credit for them, and in some cases they could actually get punished for trying to making the world look prettier.

LONDON

Originally I was going to put London in my places folder Because my London Folder is not that big right now.
However because London is fairly close to me (A short Train journey)  and has an awful lot to see, I plan to visit an awful lot of places in London over the next few months / up coming year when I have the time and the money. So this folder will hopefully become a lot bigger.

Places I hope to visit in the future are :-
Epping Forest / still need to look into this lol
Brick Lane /Done :-)
Kensington Palace / still need to look into this lol
leake-street-tunnel (Banksy tunnel)/  Done :-)
London Zoo / Done :-)
St Paul's cathedra/l Done :-)
The Shard (when it opens to the public)  Still on my list but its so Expensive  :-(
Tower Bridge/  Done from the outside
Westminster Abbey Done from the outside but I would love to go in one day

San Fran

Years ago I visited Americafor the first time when my unkle got married and one day (if i ever get the money) I plan to go back, so this folder serves as a reminderd to me .

Like what you see why not watch me ?

Okay I get that some of you might think its a bit cheeky asking for you to watch me.
However I didn't make this gallery to get a huge amount of page views or massive attention I made it to show people my part of the world and all the great places I get to visit.

Because of this I am always uploading photos of my recent trips and trying to plan new trips.
So I would greatly appreciate it if you follow me and tell me what places inspire you.
I would also love it if you could possibly suggest some places you think I should visit.

Please Tell me what you want to see.

As I mentioned above this album is made to try and connect with you and show you how beautiful the world is.
So if you like somewhere I have visited before and think I should take more photos or you want to see photos from a specific location you think is near me feel free to make a comment below or send me a message.

Many thanks
